Changes to VA’s Accreditation Framework and Renewal Policy

Aiming to maintain a high standard for the country’s coaches and officials, Volleyball Australia has updated its Accreditation Framework alongside the Accreditation Renewal Policy. While most things remain similar to 2022, this update brings a couple of significant changes to accreditation names, processes, and requirements.

Accredited coaches and referees do not need to do anything retroactively. It is moving forward that users will need to be aware, mostly with the renewal procedures.

The biggest change is for Level 2 and 3 Coaches and Level 2 Referees. As of 2023, the term and status of ‘candidate’ has been eliminated. This is replaced by the ‘Associate’ level of accreditation – which can be renewed.

You can find a detailed summary of how accreditations have changed in the following document:

Starting in 2023 Coaches and Referees will need to provide evidence of continuous development points (CDC points) alongside the standard renewal documents. To be eligible for renewal, coaches and referees need to keep a record of their practical and educational activities. Different Accreditation Levels require different amounts of CDC points.

Educational activities include doing online Sports Integrity Australia modules, attending volleyball courses/workshops (such as our upcoming referee forum and referee refresher series), attending general sporting seminars, completing a first-aid course, and others.

The Renewal Policy is detailed in the Coach and Referee Frameworks. Here are the specific sections for your easy access:
