BEACH TOUR SET TO HIT GERALDTON SAND THIS SUMMER

For the very first time, the Alcohol.Think Again Beach Volleyball Tour will land in Geraldton, giving local residents a taste of the excitement and action of beach volleyball. The inaugural event will be held over the Labour Day long weekend from the 27-28 February.

“It is so important that we continue to bring volleyball to regional communities to support the growth of the game and the regional clubs,” said Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl.

Town Beach in Champion Bay will provide an idyllic backdrop to the high-spirited competition. The still waters already serve as a popular spot for water sports, and the white sandy beach will now add volleyball to its list of activities.

“Our social group is extremely excited for Volleyball WA to play in our beautiful town during the rural leg of their beach tour. This is a wonderful opportunity to put our town on display and have some local volleyball talent compete. We welcome all visitors and we are looking forward to seeing how the metro athletes adapt to playing in Geraldton conditions.” Said Secretary of the Geraldton Beach Volleyball group, Fredrick Pritchard.

Players will be looking forward to being able to travel out of the metro area following the recent snap lockdown in Perth. There is a close bond in the playing community, so a road trip getaway to Geraldton will be a welcome reprieve from the isolation.

“We thank naming rights sponsor Healthway for their support of the tour and are happy to be taking their Alcohol.Think Again message out into the regions. Playing volleyball is its many forms and leading a healthy and happy lifestyle is so very important in these challenging times” Kuhl added.

Following this event, the tour will travel to Mandurah and then wrap up the series in City Beach in late March.
