Beach Volleyball lights up Busselton Jetty

Shelby Maher has extended her winning streak and collected gold with Georgia Diaz at WA’s first regional stop of the Alcohol. Think Again Beach Tour. While young guns Ky Landers and Caleb Lampard dominated the men’s competition in Busselton to secure their first Elite division title.

Facing two of WA’s most experienced volleyball players, Mark Petersen and Jonathan Hague, Landers and Lampard were never assured the Grand Final win. Battling across both sets, Landers and Lampard were able to maintain control and took out the final, 21-16 and 21-14.

“It is a great feeling to win our first Alcohol. Think Again Beach Tour title here in Busselton. This win will help our preparation for the WA Open and set us up for the rest of the tour.” said Landers.

In the Women’s Elite, Maher and Diaz defeated Tessa Anderson and Rachel Knights in a fiercely contested match. Maher and Diaz looked strong early and were able to secure the first set, 21-15. Anderson and Knights fought back to stay in touch and win the second set, 21-17. However, Maher looked determined to continue to her winning streak and was able to take out the title with Diaz in a dominant third set, 15-4.

In the women’s competitive division, Tully Bew and Stephanie Mews defeated Sophie Meyerkort and Olive Botica in two sets, 21-14 and 21-12. While Thiago Bacellar and Tyler Gow were the champions in the men’s competitive division Grand Final against Connor Luff and Robert Kinninmont, winning gold in two sets, 21-19 and 21-15.
