Young leader to take on new role at Volleyball WA

Volleyball WA is pleased to welcome Jessica (Jess) Grigio to the team. She will take up the role of Regional Development Coordinator, South West and Peel made vacant following the resignation of Brad Barclay.

Many of you will know her already through her involvement with Mandurah Volleyball Association where she plays, coaches, and heads up youth development. Others might also remember she was an Alcohol. Think Again Volleyball WA Ambassador and joint winner of the Young Leader of the Year Award last year.

Her first hit in an adult social league was as she says intimidating and we are lucky that this didn’t turn her off the sport altogether. Her next experience playing in country week against athletes closer to her age and skill level was far more positive and Jess has been addicted to the game ever since.

She took up coaching when she was in year 12 and with her Dad’s encouragement built up her skills and followed him into a role on the Mandurah Volleyball Association committee.

Jess is a local of Mandurah and looks forward to learning more about the other areas of the region she will be working in to increase participation at all levels. She loves seeing the enjoyment kids get out of playing in school and finding somewhere for them to play beyond school and hopes to use her experience in building kids and junior programs to the region.

Jess is a real advocate for continuous learning and has completed several qualifications through TAFE, the Cert. 2 in Conservations and Ecosystems Management one that fuels her native garden obsession.
