The 2020 WA Volleyball League is finally here!
After a delayed start due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Volleyball WA is excited to release the 2020 fixtures for the WA Volleyball State League and State League Reserve competition.
The 2020 season will see teams play a 15-round regular season, with a three-round final series set for September. Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl congratulated the clubs and staff “on their accelerated turn around in getting the 2020 season back on track.”
“Our community has endured an overwhelmingly difficult period and I am excited to see the 2020 indoor season get underway. Our sport continues to evolve, and I am delighted that our clubs, staff and board have worked together to get back out on to the court. I commend all involved in their selfless approach and unified delivery to get volleyball back underway in 2020.” said Kuhl.
The 2020 WA Volleyball League season will launch on the 28th of June with the first round of State League and State League Reserves set for Loftus. The season launch will also see the first day of grading for the Divisions competition get underway.
Whilst we remain in Phase 3 of the WA Government’s COVID-19 Roadmap and social distancing measures, Volleyball WA has made the decision to not allow any spectators for the first two weeks of competition. This includes the first three rounds of the WAVL State League and State League Reserves, as well as the two grading rounds for the WAVL Divisions. This decision will be reviewed pending any further advice from the WA Government.
WAVL Divisions and Grading
WAVL Divisions are set to start their official season on the 12th of July. Given the large number of nominations in the top two Divisions, two grading days will need to occur. Division 1 Grading Day will kick off on the 28th June for the Men and Women. Following the Division 1 Grading Day results, Division 2 Grading fixtures will be released and the Grading Day will take place the following Sunday 5th July.
