On Sunday, October 3, 37 teams representing 12 different countries took to the courts at HBF Stadium, Joondalup. Volleyball WA continues to recognise and celebrate the diversity in our sport and provide opportunities for persons from all backgrounds to participate.
Standing out were the teams from the Philippines which numbered 16, the country with the highest representation. Other countries represented included Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, Rodrigues Island, Thailand, Vietnam and of course Australia showing Volleyball to be a game of mass global appeal.
As the exclusive naming right sponsor of this event, Healthway can reach and deliver its message to a key target audience using the popularity of the sport as a vehicle to build awareness and educate people of the harmful effects of too much alcohol.
The Alcohol. Think Again Country of Origin event is a social volleyball event that attracts a crowd of cheering family and friends, creating an atmosphere of shared community and mutual respect.
Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl said she was excited to see such a diverse range of communities participating in this event.
“Sport is a universal language that fosters community and inclusive values throughout the world. Multicultural communities look forward to participating in this event every year and we have reduced the barriers to give them an opportunity to get involved in the sport at a competitive level” said Kuhl.
