Volleyball WA Welcomes New Board Members

Volleyball WA welcomes two new Board members Matthew Waddington and Rachel Funch.

Matthew Waddington was elected to the board at the 2020 AGM in May making him one of the newest members. His skill set includes project management, strategic thinking, and planning. He has worked in both State and Local Government roles and understands the way they operate. His experience as a Volleyball coach and player will provide a unique perspective to the work of the board.

At this month’s meeting, the Board voted to appoint Rachael Funch to the Directors’ position left vacant by Susan Diver-Tuck. She has been in the Sport and Recreation industry in a professional capacity for 25 years and has a bachelor’s degree in social science – Leisure Science and Master of Business Administration. During this time Rachael has managed and coordinated community facilities, projects, and events for the local government and the YMCA of Perth.

Rachael also brings regional sporting experience having lived in the great southern/central Wheatbelt where she sourced federal funding to deliver gymnastics to regional schools and trained teachers in level 1 coaching. Rachael has spent the past five years working in strategic community planning in local government, coordinating and implementing disability access and inclusion and reconciliation plans. It is this recent work that Rachael particularly looks forward to collaborating with Volleyball WA to fulfill its vision and mission. When Rachael is not working, she enjoys cycling and singing with the Madjitil Moorna Noongar Choir.

The Board would like to thank Susan Diver-Tuck for her outstanding contribution to Volleyball and wish her well in the future.
