Celebrating Pride!

November is Pride Month in Western Australia and to mark the occasion and to celebrate the inclusiveness of our sport, Volleyball WA in conjunction with the Perth Scorpions Volleyball Club hosted the Alcohol.Think Again Pride Cup on 19th November, 2023. This was a mixed indoor social volley competition held at Lofus Recreation Centre with 60 plus participants.

This event is proudly supported by Healthway and the Alcohol. Think Again message. https://alcoholthinkagain.com.au/.

Sport can break down barriers in ways that other areas of society can struggle to match, by encouraging participation, integration, and diversity. It also plays an important role in creating ‘social capital’ by developing connections, openness, and respect between different individuals and groups.

“Volleyball WA was pleased to once again partner with the Perth Scorpions Volleyball Club, the state’s first LGBTQIA+ Volleyball Club. We thank Healthway and the Alcohol. Think Again message who has supported this event in 2023 as part of our commitment to promoting positive mental wellbeing within our community. This is an event, we hope to build in 2024” said Robyn Kuhl, CEO of Volleyball WA.

Perth Scorpions has extended and invitation to the volleyball community to join their club at the WA Pride Parade this year. Persons can register their interest here.
