The Australian Olympic Committee is sending a team to compete in the first edition of the World Beach Games, which is being held in Doha, Qatar, on 12th to 16th October, 2019.
The World Beach Games includes 4-a-side Beach Volleyball for 8 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams, and Australia has qualified both a men’s and a women’s team. Each team will consist of 6 athletes, with 4 on the court at any one time.
Volleyball Australia calls for Expressions of Interest from Australian citizens to be members of these teams. Selection will be based on past performance and experience in beach volleyball, primarily, but indoor volleyball experience and performance will also be taken into account, as will development potential for the future.
A coach of the men’s and a coach of the women’s teams will also be selected.
Interested athletes and coaches are requested to complete the Expression of Interest Form and email it to john.boultbee@avf.org.au by 17 July 2019.
You must also complete the attached AWBG Eligibility Conditions Form and attach it to the Expression of Interest Form, together with a copy of your Passport.
You will also need to upload a passport-style photo (no smiles, no sunglasses, no teeth showing, no hats, plain white background). If you don’t have one, please visit an Australia Post outlet and ask for the photo to be taken there, and for the photo to be emailed to you. Then attach the photo to the Expression of Interest Form as well.
Apologies for the short time frame, as these requirements have just been supplied by the Organising Committee this week.
For further information please contact John Boultbee on the email address above.
