WA Gears Up for 2025 Australian Sitting Volleyball Championships

Volleyball WA is proud to announce the launch of our 2025 ParaVolley State Team program and the appointment of coaches Tatiana Ray (Head Coach) and Brad Barclay (Assistant Coach) for the Australian Sitting Volleyball Championships taking place on 6–7 December on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

This national, integrated event will feature mixed-gender teams from across Australia, including athletes with and without disabilities, showcasing the inclusive spirit of sitting volleyball.

Tatiana Ray is a Level 2 State Coach with the Mandurah Volleyball Association, where she also holds the role of Adaptive and Sitting Volleyball Coordinator. A passionate advocate for para and adaptive sports, Tatiana is actively involved on the national stage—most recently serving as Athlete Wellbeing Support at the 2025 Asian Oceania Para-Volleyball Championship and during national training camps. She also contributes to the Australian Sports Commission’s Para Carer Network, where she advocates for the unique needs of high-performance carers in parasport. Her professional expertise in developmental support and disability services directly informs her volunteer work, which reflects a longstanding dedication to inclusion, athlete wellbeing, and community engagement across WA and beyond.

Brad Barclay, a Level 3 Associate Coach with the Bunbury Volleyball Association, has extensive experience coaching teams in both the WA Volleyball League (WAVL) and State Country Championships. As a current ParaVolleyRoo, Brad represents Australia in both beach and sitting volleyball formats. While his involvement has primarily been as an athlete through the Athlete Development Program, his international playing experience brings valuable insights to the development of WA’s sitting volleyball athletes. Brad is also one of only two Australians to hold a Level 2 World ParaVolley Coach Accreditation and he continues to serve as an active Ambassador for ParaVolleyball in Australia. He has played a key role in creating opportunities for people with disabilities to engage with volleyball across Western Australia.

Both Tatiana and Brad are also members of Volleyball WA’s Disability and Inclusion Working Group, where they contribute expert guidance on making the sport more inclusive and accessible for all.

All athletes (with or without physical disability) 18+ interested in trialling for the 2025 ParaVolley State Team can register via their VWA Member Portal. Trials will be held on 12th October and 19th October and training sessions will continue on Sunday afternoons up until the event. Sitting volleyball is a form of ParaVolley and athletes will be selected in line with our State Team ParaVolley Selection Policy.

Players and Teams can also get involved in our social WA Sitting Volleyball League which will run on Monday nights at Gold Netball Centre from 13th October. More details coming soon.
