The 2023 Volley Awards night was a colourful night where we acknowledged and celebrated our multicultural community. We also used the occasion to collectively congratulate our Perth Steel athletes for their tremendous achievement in winning Gold and the Champion Club Trophy in the inaugural Scape Australian Volleyball Super League.
We also celebrated three special Awardees – David Hutchins and Desiree Tan for their Order of Merits and Stuart Luff, for his Life Membership. Each of them received Distinguished Service Awards for their stellar contribution to the sport in WA.
The other big winner on the night was Reds Volleyball Club who won several of the major trophies of the night including:
• Referee of the Year – Will Dundas who won for the second year running
• Trevor William OAM Club Volunteer Administrator of the Year – Logan Vanderweide
• Young Leader of the Year – Fergus Milsom
• Discover Volleyball Ambassador – Max Wason
• Champion Club Beach
• Robyn Fittock Indoor Volleyball Champion Club
The John McKay Regional Club of the Year went to the Busselton Volleyball Association and the Indoor Beach Volleyball Champion Centre went to Osborne Park for the second year running. And then to wind up the evening, Southern Cross Volleyball Club took out the biggest trophy of the night – the 2023 Volleyball Club of the Year. This award acknowledges the Club or Association that has contributed most to the development and growth of the sport. With most clubs performing exceptionally well in the past year, Volleyball WA congratulates Southern Cross Volleyball for coming out on top in a very competitive environment.
