The 2018 Australian Volleyball Schools Cup wrapped in Melbourne today with WA schools collecting 9 medals.
The Western Australian schools representing the state in finals were Rossmoyne SHS, Greenwood College, Penrhos College, Mandurah Baptsist College and Aquinas College all playing in medal matches.
Penrhos College arrived in Melbourne with 4 teams and will be leaving with 4 gold medals. Year 12 girls won gold in division 1, their year 10 girls were also successful in their division 1 gold medal match defeating Burnside in straight sets. Their Division 1 Year 9 girls won their gold medal match defeating Immanuel 2 sets to 0 and the Year 8 girl’s Honours team won their gold medal match against fellow WA school Rossmoyne SHS.
Aquinas College Year 11 Division 2 Boys defeated Shailer Pk to win gold. Greenwood College Year 12 girls defeated Concordia to secure a gold medal in division 3, while their Year 8 boys played off for a bronze medal in Division 3 however they were unable to overcome Reynella E. Mandurah Baptist College boys won a bronze medal in the Year 12 Division 1 defeating MC Ashgrove in straight sets. Rossmoyne SHS U16 girls Honours were unable to overcome Heathfield in the bronze medal match.
