Reconciliation Week 2024 – Now More Than Ever

National Reconciliation Week, held every year from 27 May to 3 June, is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.  The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, reminds us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will and must continue.

In 2023, Volleyball WA embarked on the Reconciliation journey and in 2024 our Reconciliation Working Group is currently developing the Volleyball WA Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). At its heart, this journey is about developing and strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and building a foundation for reconciliation within our sport. The development of our RAP is an important step forward in our journey towards reconciliation and we encourage our community to get involved.

To acknowledge the week, our VWA Staff team will participate in the Reconciliation WA online breakfast on 27 May members of our Reconciliation Working Group will participate in the Walk for Reconciliation on 31 May at Langley Park. Visit the Reconciliation WA website for more information and to discover what activities and events are taking place in your local area during National Reconciliation Week https://www.recwa.org.au/nrw-2024/.

Volleyball WA welcomes persons from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds who are interested in joining our Reconciliation Working Group to help guide the direction of the sport toward reconciliation to reach out.  For more information contact our Participation Manager, [email protected] or call on 9228 8522.
