WAVL 2023 kicks off early this year!

The 2023 WAVL season will look a little different this year with State League commencing this upcoming weekend, one month earlier than usual.

The State League season will include three double-header weekends and a Grand Final date separate to the other divisions in July to fit all games into a shorter period. These changes are in place to accommodate the new Australian Volleyball Super League (previously AVL), which will run in August and September this year with a brand-new format catered to improve the spectator experience and work towards securing a broadcast sponsor.

The WAVL competition will welcome four new clubs in 2023 including Apex, Perth Scorpions, Northshore Rockets and Southern Cross Masters, plus an increase of 23 teams bringing the total number of teams competing to 153.

What will remain the same of course is the weekly buzz of Club comradery and rivalries for the next five months while teams take the court in various venues across the State to proudly represent their Clubs in competition.

State League and State League Reserves fixtures for the next two weekends are now live on BracketPal with the remainder of the season to be released shortly, followed by Division fixtures after the completion of Grading Days.

Division 1 Grading Day will also be held this Sunday at Cockburn ARC (Women) and Loftus Rec Centre (Men). See below for fixtures.
