Optus back Bunbury’s Volley by the Bay

Volleyball WA are excited to announce Optus as the official naming rights sponsor for Volley by the Bay 2019.

Volleyball WAand Optus’ new partnership comes after a record breaking Volley by the Bay event in 2018, which set a new Australian junior participation record for beach volleyball and saw Volleyball WA deliver the largest beach volleyball event ever held in the state.

Optus Volley by the Bay 2019 is set for Bunbury this April school holidays and will see the country’s best junior beach volleyball players descend on Koombana Bay for six days of competition.

Volleyball WA chief executive officer Robyn Kuhl said the partnership ‘highlights the sport’s growing appeal at a national level and Optus’ commitment to elevating the south west region.’

“Volley by the Bay 2018 was the biggest beach volleyball event ever held in the state and was an incredible milestone in the sport’s national development. In 2019, thanks to Optus, Volley by the Bay is set for an upgrade. Combing high quality competition, a picturesque location and enhanced event experience, we can’t wait to get started.”  Ms Kuhl said.

“With the backing of Optus we know this year’s event will once again deliver for the south west region. Generating more than 1.85 million dollars for the south west and attracting more than 4,000 people to the event in 2018, Optus Volley by the Bay 2019 is set to be better than ever and will have something for everybody.”

The partnership between Volleyball WA and Optus will enhance both the event experience for those at Koombana Bay and the events digital delivery. With Optus’ fastest network ever behind the event, Optus will power the events live results and live stream for the whole country to enjoy.

“It’s wonderful to be able to sponsor locally based, national events like the Optus Volley by the Bay. For Optus our commitment to the local communities that we serve goes beyond providing reliable and great value mobile service. We want to give back and support events like this that showcase this beautiful part of WA and we can’t wait to be part of the event this year,” said Cameron Edwards, Territory General Manager, Regional Western Australia.

Optus Volley by the Bay 2019 will start with the Australian U23 Beach Volleyball Championships on the 13th and 14th of April, followed by the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships from the 15th to the 18th.
