Keeping our sporting stars on court!

Volleyball WA is pleased to announce that the sport has re-signed its partnership agreement with Star Physio for another year. Star Physio are particularly committed to working with our junior and youth pathway athletes, supporting injury prevention, development, and preparation for national competition while continuing to provide expert care with special discounts for all Volleyball WA members.

The partnership this year will have a focus on education. Owner Damian Oldmeadow said,” while all physiotherapists are highly qualified medical professionals, not all are experienced with managing and treating sporting injuries and in particular those common among volleyballers”. Ensuring athletes are getting the best possible advice and care is one of the key messages he is sharing with clubs, athletes, and parents in 2022.

The team at Star Physio come highly credentialled, working with elite volleyball for over 25 years including at three Olympic Games with the Australian Volleyball Teams and supporting VWA for 20 years. They have offices in West Perth, Mosman Park, and the Perth CBD.

Damian was a guest speaker at the 2022 Club Conference and provided some key insights into the types of injuries that might occur on court, what the immediate treatment options are and dispelled some of the myths around which injuries need time off court and which are safe to play and train through. He also reminded clubs that Star Physio is also available to provide advice to coaches and progress reports on injured players.

Volleyball WA members receive a 10% discount on consultation fees, priority emergency appointments, and heavily discounted Athlete Screening appointments.

In 2022, Star Physio’s Aaron Tay will be traveling with our elite juniors providing support and injury management in the lead up to and during the AYVC. Say hi to Aaron when you see him around training in the next few months!
