Fremantle indoor Beach Volleyball saw WA’s best indoor beach volleyball player’s battle it out in the first round of the hotly contested 2020 WAIBF Superleague Competition. With all 8 Indoor Volleyball Associations descending on the competition, it was Malaga Indoor Beach Volleyball centre who ultimately finished on the top of the ladder.
The close matches reflected the growing talent in WA’s Indoor Beach volleyball competition, which was on display in the men’s 1 division, with Joondalup clinching the title and the women’s 1 division with Ossie Indoor Beach Volleyball taking the top spot. While in the mixed 1 division competition, the Bunbury team claimed the leading position.
In the over 35 categories, Ossie Indoor Beach Volleyball dominated the men’s competition and Fremantle took charge of the women’s. And in the junior division, Joondalup finished the day by finishing top of the ladder for both the boys and girls. This is the first time in over a decade the juniors have participated in their own category of the competition.
“ It was a fantastic day and it was great to see our sport back in action for 2020. There was a great display of competition and sportsmanship made by everyone involved. Fremantle I.B.V did a fantastic job of playing host for round 1.” Said Jemma Green, Tournament Director.
Teams now move on to Round 2 held at Port Kennedy Indoor Beach Volleyball on December 12th where they will try to consolidate their winning streak.
