Closing the book on Volleyball Education in 2020

The Introductory Teacher PD Workshop held last Friday, 20/11/20 marked the last of Volleyball WA’s education courses for 2020. As with most things this year, lockdowns and social distancing provided many challenges to running education courses. However, through the dedication and commitment of our presenters together with Volleyball WA staff, we were able to adapt and continue to provide these services to our members.

In 2020 we ran a total of 3 Level 2 Coaching courses, 6 Level 2 Referee courses and 2 Teacher PD workshops. In March, as the world quickly adapted to distancing regulations, the Volleyball WA Board decided to offer Level 2 education courses online, as one way of continuing to engage the volleyball community. In total, 7 of the 12 courses run in 2020 were done through an online platform.

Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl commented “Whilst we couldn’t be together physically playing the game of volleyball, it was important that we continued to stay connected with our members and provided a way for people to stay engaged with the sport. It was also a great opportunity for those time-poor members to upskill their accreditations.”

Thank you to the following presenters for their time and effort throughout the year; Stuart Carr, Andrew Scotford, Sam Delany, Nam Phan, Dani Francis, Renae Harvey, Steve Page and Gareth Whitehead.

If you would like to upskill your coaching or referee accreditation, keep an eye out for 2021 course dates (including a Level 3 Coaching course) or contact the Volleyball WA office at 9228 8522 or [email protected]
