After wrapping up the 2025 VWA Spring Clinics, we want to extend a huge thank you to all the athletes, coaches, and parents involved. The clinics brought together athletes of various ages, clubs, and skill levels together and this mix created a special environment that encouraged learning, collaboration, and shared growth.
Now that we are flying close to 2026, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the Volleyball WA Academy, a new program designed to nurture talent and provide a stepping-stone in our athlete pathway.
The VWA Academy will be the nationally aligned Talent Development program for athletes in Western Australia. The aim is to strengthen their technical and tactical volleyball skills in both beach and indoor volleyball, align athletes to State and National team programs and expectations, and guide them towards reaching their sporting goals.
The Academy will consist of 2 squads for each gender, the Development Squad and the Performance Squad. Athletes will be grouped by skill level, progression, projected development, and commitment, not by age, to foster optimal growth and competition.
Squad Allocation Trials for Program 1 of the VWA Academy will take place on Monday the 19th and Saturday the 31st of January. After selection and allocation, the program will run for 8 weeks during the months of February and March.
The Development Squad will train once per week – Mondays from 6:15 pm to 8:30 pm at Kingsway Indoor Stadium. This squad is targeted for athletes born between the years 2007 and 2012.
The Performance Squad will train twice per week – Mondays from 6:15 pm to 8:30 pm at Kingsway Indoor Stadium and Fridays between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Inner City Beach (VWA Beach Courts). This squad is targeted for athletes born between the years 2006 and 2011.
After the conclusion of Program 1, we are planning to run Program 2 during the months of June and July and Program 3 during October and November.
