Volleyball WA has been selected as a finalist in the 2018 Sport and Recreation Industry Awards.
Held every two years, the Sport and Recreation Industry Awards recognise innovation and exceptional achievement across all areas of sport and recreation in Western Australia.
Volleyball WA’s Volley by the Bay event has been recognized as a finalist for the Professional Event of the Year Award.
“In its inaugural year Volley by the Bay has been hailed an unrivaled success for the sport of volleyball in Australia. This nomination is a testament to the outstanding work done by the Volleyball WA staff and community.” Robyn Kuhl Volleyball WA CEO said.
“As one of the southern hemisphere’s pinnacle 2018 junior beach volleyball events, Volley by the Bay delivered for our athletes, coaches and sponsors. We’re beyond thrilled with the outcome.”
Held at Bunbury’s Koombana Bay in April, Volley by the Bay was a nine-day beach volleyball festival encompassing the WA Alcohol. Think Again Beach Tour final, Australian U23 and Junior Beach Volleyball Championships.
Setting a new national junior participation record for beach volleyball, Volley by the Bay is the result of the sport’s continuing growth and development. Offering Volleyball WA’s south west regional affiliates a strong strategic legacy, Volley by the Bay brought the next generation of Australian Volleyball Superstars to Bunbury’s Koombana Bay.
Alongside the high quality beach volleyball, Volleyball WA was able to deliver an engaging range of community events and free activations from national organisations for the local community. As the largest Beach Volleyball event ever held in the state, Volley by the Bay had something for everyone and was one beach party not to miss.
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 8 August at Optus Stadium.
