Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed in Round Two of the 2019/20 Alcohol. Think Again Beach Tour. More than 40 teams returned to City Beach for the one-day format, including two teams from Albany, with the AA Men and Women battling it out on Saturday and the AAA divisions playing on Sunday.

In the women’s AAA division Taleah Atthowe and Jana Orszaghova returned looking to better their second place from Round One and once again made it through to the Grand Final. However, the dynamic duo of Tessa Anderson and Shelby Maher were in hot form throughout the competition. Maher and Anderson swept the Sunday competition and powered home, beating Atthowe and Orszaghova in two straight sets, 21-11 and 21-17

In the men’s game, Greg Hunt and Maksim Bacovic battled hard to make it out of a fierce pool and face Mark Petersen and Trent Irwin in the Grand Final. As the weekend’s number three seed, Hunt and Bacovic beat the number two seed team of Sam Kingston and Jonathan Hague to progress to the final. Up against the number one seed in the final match of the day, Hunt and Bacovic found an excellent rhythm to claim victory in two sets, 21-16, 21-12.

In men’s AA competition it was Tristan Watts and Ryan Slater who bested Cameron Gillman and Travis Colledge in three sets, 15-12, 14-16 and 12-8. While in the women’s AA Grand Final,  Mikaela Armstrong and Stephanie Donev fought back after dropping the first set to beat Cassie Dodd and Alexia Zammit, -15,  15-10, 12-9.
