Volley by the Bay headlines the 2017/18 Beach Volleyball Season, with competitions for beginners through to Elite level players.
Australia’s best volleyballers will head to Bunbury next year for the inaugural ‘Volley By the Bay’ series.
Three major competitions – the Alcohol Think Again Beach Tour, the Australian Under-23 Beach Championships, and the Australian Junior Beach Championships (AJBVC) – will hit Koombana Bay beach from April 21 to 29. State, national and international competitors will battle it out in the events, with the Beach Tour competition including AAA-level athletes through to social level players and the Under-23s event attracting the state’s top players, all vying for Olympic Games selection, with the events utilising Bunbury’s Koombana Bay beach’s 13 planned courts.
This year, the WA Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships’ State Team will include U15, U17, U19 and U23 age groups. As part of the lead up to the main event in April 2018, Volleyball WA encourages all U19 and U23 athletes to begin their preparations and get as much time on the court as possible in preparation for the WA State Team trials taking place in January. WA State Team coaches highly recommend all U19 and U23 athletes to take part in opportunities available in WA and participation in current opportunities will be highly regarded in the selection process.
Trials for the 2018 AJBVC WA State team will take place over six sessions on the 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, and 24th of January 2018.
