WA Reps at AIS for Para‑Volleyball Development

Western Australia made a strong impression at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) from 22–27 April, with athletes, coaches and medical staff joining Volleyball Australia for a pivotal week of national para‑volleyball development. The six‑day program marked the first step toward selection for the 2026 National Team squads, setting the foundation for future international representation.

The development week featured a comprehensive schedule that included the National Development Camp, the National Sitting Volleyball Championship (para-athletes focused), the World ParaVolley Level 2 Coaching Course, and the World ParaVolley Foundational Classifier Course,.

  • WA Para-Athletes James Riseley and Rachael Williams contributed to a strong WA presence in the para-volleyball pathway, gaining valuable experience in a high‑performance environment.
  • WA Support Athletes Sachiko Kuroiwa and Cezanne Vennitti  supported the delivery of the National Sitting Volleyball Championship and development activities, helping elevate the standard of play and training.
  • WA Medical Personnel Jonathan Hague and Aaron Tay successfully completed the World ParaVolley Foundational Classifier Course, significantly strengthening the state’s capacity to support para-athletes.
  • WA Coaches Mauro Vennitti and Tatiana Ray  successfully completed the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball Coach Certification, delivered by Nicole Ban, Head Coach of the Canadian Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team. Their new qualifications will enhance WA’s coaching expertise and contribute to the growth of sitting volleyball across the state.

These achievements highlight the strength of WA’s para-volleyball community and its growing contribution to Australia’s national pathways.
