Local Talent Represents at Mollymook Beach Tour

Fourteen athletes from Western Australia have made the journey to the stunning Shoalhaven coast of Mollymook, NSW this weekend for the third stop of the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour.

Senior Beach Volleyroo, Paul Burnett has come into the Men’s Elite Division as the second seed, followed closely behind by our Developing Beach Volleyroos Joshua Howat in third seed and Jed Walker in sixth seed. WA star and recent Australian Beach Volleyball Tour winner, Ky Landers will also be competing in the Elite Division.

On the women’s side, we have four WA athletes who have made the Elite Division, including Developing Beach Volleyroo Lizzie Alchin coming in as the third seed, who has been competing internationally for Australia this past year. Local pair, Jasmine Serra and Tessa Browne are taking their gold-medal-winning talents from WA to the National stage this weekend, hoping to make a name for themselves on the East Coast. Local elite player, Kyla Sanchez will also be competing in the Elite Division with a partner from Queensland.

Two local WA pairs, Jonathan Hague/Griffin Bateman and Jordan Fancote/Oliver Oaten will take to the sand today in the Men’s Qualifying Tournament, looking to secure a spot in the Elite Men’s Division. All four athletes have seen a grand final in WA’s Alcohol.Think Again Beach Tour this season, so they are hoping they can rise to the challenge on interstate grounds.

Young guns Jolie Du Plessis (U19) and Hayden Baker (U17) will also be competing this weekend. Du Plessis has been showing her steel back home in the WA State Tour and will be vying for qualification into the Elite Women’s Division today, while Baker, the newest member of the Australian Volleyball Academy, will be competing in the Men’s Challenger Division.
