2014 FIVB Grand Prix Tournament

The 2014 World Grand Prix, the FIVB’s premier annual women’s volleyball tournament, will kick start this Friday, 25th July. This year’s tournament will see a record number of 28 teams competing, an impressive increase from the 18 teams who competed in 2013.

The Australian Women’s Volleyroos flew to Thailand last week for the pre Grand Prix Tournament held in Thailand. Included in the Women’s Volleyroos are two Western Australian athletes, Tara West and Sophie Godfrey.

The 28 teams are split into 3 groups, with the Women’s Volleyroos in group 3 along with the likes of Bulgaria, Kenya, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Croatia, Mexico and the Czech Republic. The girls will meet Kazakhstan first up on Friday, 25th July in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

We wish good luck to the team and in particular to our WA stars Tara and Sophie.
