Kalgoorlie comes out on top at the 2021 Alcohol. Think Again Country State Championships

The teams from Kalgoorlie went home as the State Champs following a tough weekend of Volleyball at this years Alcohol, Think Again Country State Championships.

Each year teams from around the state travel to Perth to play in a two-day tournament. Teams compete in a series of group stage matches before the finals on Sunday.

The Men’s finals were dominated by the teams from the Southwest with Busselton taking out Gold in Division A and Mandurah in Division B.

The Women’s finals featured teams from across the state with the teams from Kalgoorlie proving to be too strong securing Gold in both Division 1 & 2. These wins contributing to the overall tournament points tally and them securing the title of State Champions for 2021.

This year several of our State Teams joined the competition in place of the scheduled national competition which was cancelled due to COVID. This gave them an opportunity to test their skills and a special mention goes out the U17 Women’s team who secured first place in Division A.

Thanks to all the teams (Albany, Esperance, Busselton, Bunbury, Mandurah, Kalgoorlie & Karratha) that made the trip to Perth to compete, this event is a favourite on the annual calendar because of the friendly rivalry between teams built up over the years creating a great atmosphere for players, officials, and spectators.

Next month is the last of the indoor competitions for the year, the Alcohol. Think Again Country of Origin before we turn our attention to the start of the beach season.
