Bunbury Named 2023 Country State Champions

Bunbury Volleyball Association collected the prestigious 2023 State Championship title for the first time following a tough weekend of Country Volleyball at this year’s Alcohol. Think Again State Championships.

28 teams from across the state travelled to Perth to play in a two-day tournament, competing in a series of pool matches on Saturday before the finals on Sunday.

The Men’s finals included a strong Busselton outfit upsetting the top seed Bunbury in Division A. The Division B grand final was a close 3-set match where Albany defeated Karratha with 2 of the sets going to 26-24.

The Women’s finals were both close battles with Bunbury securing Gold in both Division A & B. These wins contributed to the overall tournament points tally and led them to the title of State Champions for 2023.

Thanks to all the teams (Albany, Esperance, Busselton, Bunbury, Mandurah, Kalgoorlie & Karratha) that made the trip to Perth to compete. This event is a favourite on the annual calendar because of the friendly rivalry between teams built up over the years creating a great atmosphere for players, officials, and spectators.

Next month includes the Alcohol. Think Again Country of Origin before we kick off the beach season with Groundswell on the 7th and the ATABT Round 1 Qualifier on the 21st of October.
