Fresh Batch of Level 3 Coaches Ready to Take On New Challenges

Volleyball WA would like to thank Dave Preston and Nam Pham for taking their time to visit WA for what was a jam-packed week. Their time in Perth included forums for our coaches, training sessions for our Junior and Senior Men’s state teams, meetings with VWA Office Staff and Referee Committee, and finishing with the running of the prestigious Volleyball Australia Level 3 Coach Course.

Throughout all three days of the course, participants were able to learn high-level concepts both in theory and on-court directly by the Men’s Volleryoos Head Coach and VA’s Sport Delivery and Growth Manager. With the first two days covering indoor volleyball and the third dedicated to beach volleyball, our coaches were tested to the limit on their technical knowledge alongside their planning and delivery of training sessions.

We were thrilled to welcome five participants coming from regional WA, having three representatives from the Peel region and one each from Albany and Bunbury.

Congratulations to our newest Level 3 Associate Coaches:

  • Bradley Barclay
  • Charlie Grigio
  • Ho Fung Chong
  • Jose Manuel Martinez Rebollar OLY
  • Kevin Gravestock
  • Lachlan Shakeshaft
  • Matthew Liley
  • Michelle Hedge
  • Mitchell Bruce
  • Samantha Shillington
  • Sean Andrews

We also welcomed Level 3 Coaches Jay Wilcox and Jessica Grigio who participated to deepen their understanding of high-level volleyball coaching.

Participants also enjoyed presentations from Jason Tutt, Athlete Wellbeing Manager of Volleyball Australia, Damian Oldmeadow and Aaron Tay of Star Physio, and Corban Wroe of Diamond High Performance.

Volleyball WA would also like to thank our host venues The Rise, ECU Mt Lawley (through Chequers Volleyball Club), and Joondalup Indoor Beach Volleyball – Home of the Joondalup Sharks for allowing us to use their spaces.
