Some local players certainly benefited from a home-court advantage with several regional players featuring in the final rounds of the Alcohol. Think Again Beach Volleyball Tour event in Bunbury over the weekend. Spectators took advantage of the near-perfect weather at Koombana Bay grabbing themselves front-row seats to the action early, a light breeze kept things a little cooler for players as well.
“Volleyball is a sport gaining popularity in regional WA and Volleyball WA is grateful to tour naming rights sponsors Healthway for enabling us to take the game to places like Bunbury each year. Beach Volleyball which is played on public beaches is highly visible and a platform for the sport to highlight the benefits for good health and well-being,” said Volleyball WA CEO, Robyn Kuhl.
The event was supported by the Bunbury Volleyball Association and our own Brad Barclay, Regional Development Coordinator for the South West & Peel. Some of you may have heard Alex Moir, Club President on Bunbury SEN Spirit Radio and Bunbury Community Radio during the week leading up to the event. Naomi Pearce from Bunbury SEN Spirit broadcast from the event and she was joined by local sports guru Craney and a number of the tour players adding to the off-court activity.
This is the second year the City of Bunbury has supported this round, and we thank them for helping us build and grow the event each year.
The final round of the tour is happening on March 18 & 19 at City Beach for more information visit the Volleyball WA website.
