As per the West Australian Government announcement on Friday, 18, 2022 the following new public health and social measure will be introduced for regions throughout the state from 6am Monday, 21 February to help manage the surge of Omicron COVID-19 cases and keep Western Australians safe.

Based on the latest health advice, Level 1 public health and social measures will be introduced in Perth, Peel, South West, Wheatbelt, Great Southern, and Pilbara regions, given growing community transmission.

The current mask mandate for all public indoor settings will also be expanded state-wide.

Level 1 public health and social measures

(Applicable to Perth, Peel, South West, Wheatbelt, Great Southern and Pilbara regions)

These measures are in effect from 6 am Monday, 21 February.

In addition to the existing indoor mask requirements, proof of vaccination, contact registration, and restricted access to remote Aboriginal communities, Level 1 measures also include:

Gathering limits

•  Home gatherings limited to a total of 30 people
• Private outdoor gatherings (not at a private residence) limited to a total of 200 people

Capacity limits

2sqm rule for:

• Hospitality venues
• Fitness venues (including gyms, pilates, yoga and dance studios)
• Entertainment venues
• Cultural venues
• Places of worship
• Hairdressers and beauty services
• Perth Crown Complex and seated service only on casino gaming floor
• Nightclubs (up to 500 maximum capacity)
• 75 per cent capacity for seated entertainment venues that face forward, like theatres and cinemas.

75 per cent capacity for major stadiums, such as Optus Stadium, RAC Arena, HBF Stadium (main area), and HBF Park.

Hospitals, aged and disability care facilities

Visitation at residential aged care facilities, residential disability care facilities, and hospitals is limited to 4 visitors per patient/resident per day. Exemptions apply for compassionate reasons.

COVID Events and Safety Plans

COVID Event Checklists required for events with more than 500 patrons and less than 1,000 patrons and COVID Event Plans required for large events with 1,000 patrons and above. See the Events page for more information.

COVID Safety Plans to be expanded to early childhood education and childcare services, hairdressers and barbers and encouraged for all workplaces.

Workplaces to implement COVID-19 safe settings to manage workforce impacts.

Masks

Wear a mask in all indoor public settings

All Level 1 measures will be applied to these regions as community transmission is detected there.

Other regions

(Kimberley, Gascoyne, Mid West and Goldfields-Esperance)

Specific measures are in effect from 6 am Monday, 21 February, in addition to existing proof of vaccination, contact registration, and restricted access to remote Aboriginal communities.

 Volleyball WA – Travel for State Teams

 Volleyball WA also acknowledges the Government’s recent border announcement that the updated Safe Transition Plan will take effect from 12.01 am, Thursday, 3 March 2022. Volleyball WA is currently working through the implications of that for our sport and will continue to monitor any further directives by the Government and how that might affect athletes and staff travel arrangements to the National AJBVYC in the near future. Any members of our community that are affected will be contacted directly with further information.

Volleyball WA – Office

The Volleyball WA office will remain open. During these times the Volleyball WA staff team will continue it’s 50/50 work roster to safeguard personnel and the ongoing operation of our sport.  All staff will be working and contactable either by email or via the office telephone (08) 9228 8522. We do ask that any visitors to the office wear masks and check-in via the app or manual register.

At this stage, all Volleyball WA planned/sanctioned events and activities will go ahead as scheduled unless the WA Government issues any further restrictions or health advice.
