Volleyball WA announced today the inaugural Lead Volley panel with nine of WA’s best and brightest set to deliver a range of outcomes over the next twelve months.

The 2019 panel is a combination of players, referees and coaches, between the ages of 17 and 23, who will be tasked with creating a new leadership pathway for Volleyball in WA.

Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl has hailed the confirmed panelists for stepping up to the challenge and speaking up on behalf of their generation.

“I would like to congratulate the nine panelists who agreed to go the extra mile for the sport. In 2018 we had more than 130,000 people play a version of volleyball in WA and I feel confident, that through programs like Lead Volley, we can improve these results in 2019.” Kuhl said.

“We are excited to hear from the younger generation and even more excited to see what they will deliver in the first twelve months. These nine representatives are champions of change and together they will be an invaluable voice for their generation.”

The panelists will meet at least four times in 2019 with a range of items set to be tabled, including the development of the Lead Volley Pathway, the planning of a Lead Volley Camp and generating ways the sport can better recognise young leaders. The 2019 panel includes two regional representatives, one from Albany and one from Esperance.

The Lead Volley panel provides a forum for young leaders to have a voice regarding their sport and be part of the decision making process.

Each panelist will serve for one year, but can reapply each year they are eligible. Applications for the 2020 panel will open in November 2019.
