The WA Hornets met the QLD Pirates in the season opener of the 2014 AVL Season over the weekend. The Hornets put in a fighting effort against the defending champions whose squad includes 4 Australian players.

Unfortunately, after a slow start in the first match (3-0) and first set in the second match, the young Hornets team managed to completely turn the match around and almost steal the game having 3 match points in the 4th set the strong QLD lineup. Eventually losing the match 3-2.

Congratulations to the boys on a remarkable performance in the first round and good luck for your upcoming matches against the Uni Blues in Victoria this weekend.
