Volleyball WA Steel prepare for their international debut

Volleyball WA (VWA) Steel women will play their first international opponent on Friday the 7th of June at Bendat Basketball Stadium when they face the PLDT Philippine Women’s team.

Concluding a five day tour of WA, the PLDT Philippine Women’s team will go up against WA’s top female team as the Steel look to open their 2019 campaign with their first international win ever.

The PLDT Philippine Women’s team have already played the Reds Volleyball Club State League women’s team on Sunday where they won 3-1. The PLDT team will play Northern Stars and Rossmoyne’s State League teams before Friday, however the finale will be something WA volleyball fans won’t want to miss.

‘The tour is a great example of the ways our sport can come together and accomplish something new. To see four VWA affiliates, three State League clubs, three schools and a regional volleyball association work towards a common goal should be commended.” Said Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl.

“Thank you to MS 3 Green and Marino Salinas for creating and coordinating this event. We would also like thank Mandurah Volleyball Association, WA Bayanihan Sporting Club and Perth Pinoy Sports Club for their assistance in delivering these matches.”

“The Volleyball WA Steel are a strong team and I am excited to see them take on their first international team. After debuting on the national stage last year it’s fantastic to see them take on this challenge and play against one of the Philippine’s premier clubs.”

The VWA Steel squad will be made up of the team that played at the 2018 Australian Volleyball League National Championship Series in December.
