COVID-19 Update: Beach Courts & Office Closure

Volleyball WA would like to update the community on new measures announced by the Prime Minister in regards to social sporting activities.

The Prime Minister announced on Tuesday (24 March 2020) that the government will further tighten it’s social distancing measures. As of 11:59 pm, local time (25 March 2020) all social sporting-based activities will be prohibited.

Based on these new measures, Volleyball WA will close both the West Perth and Cockburn Beach Courts until further notice.

Given the ongoing measures around social distancing, Volleyball WA staff have started working from home. The Volleyball WA offices will be open with a skeleton staff until Friday the 3rd of April, working under social distancing and health guidelines. As of Monday the 6th of April, Volleyball WA’s office will be closed, and all staff will be working from home and contactable via email.

Volleyball WA is asking the community to stay active and try to find 30 minutes of exercise each day. To help with this, Volleyball WA and our clubs are developing a range of social media challenges and activities for our community to do at home. These will be released via Volleyball WA’s Facebook and Instagram channels.

As part of our commitment to keeping West Australians active, we will also continue to provide the community with the opportunity to access equipment and sporting gear via the Volley Shop until the office closes. Affordable kits, like the Discover Volleyball kit, can be purchased online via card or bank transfer and are great for the backyard.

All Volley Shop purchases will be available for pick up, outside the Volleyball WA offices, during business hours. To ensure social distancing, please understand that the community will not be allowed into the office, and all purchases must be made via electronic means.

Volleyball WA would also like to stress that social distancing, does not mean shielding yourself from being social. Social connectedness is critical for your mental health, and we welcome the social media activities and challenges created by our clubs and the larger community.

Volleyball WA will continue to monitor the situation and review all upcoming events and will release updates over the coming weeks and months

This is an unprecedented situation for all of us, so please continue to be kind to each other. Look after yourself and your loved ones and don’t forget to check in on your teammates.
