Volleyball WA is pleased to announce the reappointments of Pauline Manser, Laurel Wentworth, Rory Read and Jayson Fox as the leading Coaching Staff of the 2025 Perth Steel Teams.
Pauline and Laurel will return to the Steel Women to coach for their fifth season together, while Rory and Jayson will look to build on their first season with the Men in 2024.
“Coming into my second season involved with the program, I am excited to continue to grow the Steel brand and engage with the wider volleyball community. I am looking forward to working with the boys again and keen to see some familiar faces return as well as welcome in some new energy into the group,” said Men’s Head Coach, Rory Read.
Both teams found success in 2024, with the Men securing their second consecutive grand final spot and bringing home a silver medal, and the Women claiming the bronze medal. The past three seasons of the Australian Volleyball Super League saw both Steel teams in the finals, completing the full collection of medals across the years.

“The Steel have been fortunate enough to experience great success in the first two years of the rebranded Australian Volleyball Super League and will be doing our best to prepare the boys for another successful campaign on and off the court,” Read continued.
2025 will be the third season of the rebranded Super League, which features a format different from traditional volleyball. This includes compulsory five sets, first to 18 points, shorter set breaks, no timeouts, and the enthralling “Power Play,” allowing teams to gain double points. Western Australian players, fans, and coaches have all embraced the new format, and Women’s Head Coach Pauline Manser remains excited about the new challenges ahead.
“I am again looking forward to the opportunity to continue to grow and add to the team’s toolbox of skills and strategies. We made significant progress last year and feel that 2025 will certainly be our best year yet,” said Manser.
