Volleyball WA is pleased to welcome Sean Andrews into the role of Performance Pathways Coach, bringing extensive experience across athlete development, coach mentoring, program delivery and performance volleyball.
Sean returns to Volleyball WA having previously spent several years with the organisation in community development and stakeholder engagement roles. His appointment marks a return to an organisation and sport he has been closely connected with for more than two decades, both professionally and as a coach. His previous work with Volleyball WA included the development of junior participation programs, stakeholder engagement and advocacy across the Western Australian volleyball community.
A Volleyball Australia Level 3 National Coach, Sean has coached throughout the community, club, State and National pathway environments. His recent experience includes leading the WA U21 Men to a gold medal at the 2026 Australian Junior Volleyball Championships, coaching within Volleyball Australia’s National Performance Program, working with the Perth Steel program and supporting the WA youth pathway as a coach mentor.
Sean has also gained experience within the National pathway. In 2025 he travelled with the Australian U18 Development Squad to Thailand as a scout, working within the men’s program during the Thailand Junior Volleyball Championships.
His involvement with Perth Steel has provided another connection between emerging pathway athletes and senior performance volleyball. In 2025 Sean worked in Statistics and Video Analysis with the Perth Steel men’s team, before moving into an assistant coaching role with the men’s program in 2026.
Coach development will form an important part of his approach. Sean has experience mentoring assistant coaches, working as a coach mentor within the WA pathway and collaborating with coaches through national development environments. Developing capable and connected coaches is a critical component of creating sustainable athlete pathways.
Before returning to Volleyball WA, Sean spent more than a year as Executive Officer of Diving WA, broadening his experience in governance, strategic planning, stakeholder management and the administration of a State Sporting Organisation operating within an Olympic performance system.
In the Performance Pathways Coach role, Sean will work across Volleyball WA’s Academy and performance pathway environments, supporting the continued development of athletes and coaches and helping strengthen connections between Academy, State Team, Perth Steel and National pathway opportunities.
Volleyball WA welcomes Sean back to the organisation and looks forward to his contribution to the continued development of the WA performance pathway.
