A Night of Celebration: Volleyball WA Honours Excellence at the 2025 Annual Awards Night

The Volleyball WA Awards Night took place on Saturday, November 8th, bringing together the Western Australian volleyball community for an evening of joy, recognition, and celebration.

Volleyball WA extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening a success. Special appreciation goes to our valued sponsors for their continued partnership and support: the Department of Creative Industries Tourism and Sport (CITS), Lotterywest, Healthway with their Alcohol. Think Again message, Mahindra, Diamond High Performance, Star Physio, Fortix, Elevate Mortgage and Finance, PC Computing, the Indoor Beach Volleyball Federation, Metro Hotels, Motive Travel and Sports Centre. Your unwavering commitment helps drive the growth and success of volleyball across the state.

The event served as an opportunity to recognise the incredible contributions of Clubs, Associations, Affiliates, coaches, referees, volunteers, committee and board members, staff, and athletes. Every individual’s passion and effort have played an essential role in strengthening and expanding the sport in Western Australia.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious John Sewell Awards, now in their second year. Congratulations to this year’s recipients, David Hedge and Darrel Fox, whose dedication has left a lasting mark on the volleyball community. Joan Strikwerda-Brown was also acknowledged for her outstanding contributions after being unable to attend last year’s ceremony.

The Order of Merit Awards were another memorable moment of the night, recognising those who have made significant contributions to the objectives and operations of Volleyball WA. Congratulations to Sean Andrews, Laurie Drage, Manu Nair, and former Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl for their remarkable service and leadership.

As the evening concluded, attention turned to the highly anticipated 2025 Club Awards, which celebrated the remarkable achievements of volleyball organisations from across Western Australia. The Mandurah Volleyball Association proudly received the John MacKay Regional Association Award, recognising its outstanding commitment to regional development. The Indoor Beach Federation Centre Award was once again presented to Osborne Park, marking an impressive fourth consecutive win. The Busselton Volleyball Association was honoured with the Champion Beach Club Award for its excellence and growth within the beach volleyball community. Reds Volleyball Club earned the Robyn Fittock Indoor Volleyball Club of the Year title for their exceptional dedication throughout the season. Rounding out the night, the Southern Cross Volleyball Club was named Volleyball WA Club of the Year for the fourth consecutive year—a testament to their consistent excellence and unwavering contribution to the sport’s development in Western Australia.

The 2025 Volleyball WA Awards Night was more than a celebration of success—it was a testament to the passion, collaboration, and community spirit that make volleyball in Western Australia truly exceptional. Here’s to another year of achievement, unity, and inspiration both on and off the court!
