Schools Sports WA Senior High Schools Country Week 2022

Each year School Sports WA host a Country Week event that enables schools to compete in AFL, Basketball, Netball, Dance, Hockey, Indoor Cricket, Speech and Debating, Touch Football, Soccer, and Volleyball.

There were 3000 students and 380 staff from 46 schools in Perth for the week of competition this year. The event is so large that the games are held at several venues including Bendat Basketball Stadium, UWA Sports Park, Gold Netball Cente, HBF Stadium, King St Arts Centre, and Seamer Sports Centre.

Volleyball is always one of the stand-out sports in terms of participation and this year was no different, Volleyball was the lead sport with 69 teams entered across several year groups.

The teams from Christmas Island and Merredin were among the winning Volleyball teams in the A Division competition. See the full list on the School Sports WA website.

Volleyball WA visited Christmas Island back in early March to help them prepare for the Country Week competition and so it was very pleasing to see that their hard work paid off.

Olympic Volleyballer, José Manuel Martínez was on hand to present the medals to some of the winners on the final day of competition.
