Volleyball WA hosted its first-ever Advanced ATAR Skills Teacher Professional Development workshops last week at Lords Recreation Centre. Twenty-two high school teachers spent time in the classroom and on the court learning some advanced Volleyball skills and offensive and defensive strategies of the game from one of the State’s best specialist teachers and youth volleyball coaches.

Rory Read is head of the Specialist Volleyball Program at Rossmoyne Senior High. The program produces some of Perth’s best Volleyball players who go on to play in state and national competitions and leagues. As a bonus, he was able to bring along some students to demonstrate the practical application of the strategies, a brilliant visual for participants to see how that translates to the classroom and the teaching environment.

Teachers will now take this newfound knowledge back to their students to provide them with a greater understanding of the game, improved ATAR results, and potentially a few more wins when they next compete.

Volleyball WA has scheduled the next Advanced ATAR Skills Teacher Professional Development Workshop for March 23, 2023.
