WA is well represented in the Australian Volleyroos squad currently competing in the 2015 FIVB World Cup in Hiroshima Japan. Luke Perry (Aquinas), Sam Walker (Aquinas) and Max Staples (Rossmoyne) are all in the team and getting good minutes contributing for the team.
The team had a rocky start to the tournament against some tough competition but has managed to come in to some form lately with a tough 5-set win over Egypt and a heart-breaking 5-set loss to Canada. The Volleyroo’s also seem to be constantly breaking world records with Thomas Edgar scoring 50-points against Egypt and breaking the record for the highest points scored by an individual player in a FIVB game. The Volleyroo’s match against Canada also broke the record for the longest FIVB game (2 hours and 49 minutes) and also the most points scored in game (245 points).
We are wishing the Volleyroo’s the best of luck in their upcoming matches. You can follow there progress here
