The Great Southern Volley Mania, a month-long volleyball event organised by Volleyball WA, has come to a successful close in Albany and Denmark. This extensive series of events and activities, which kicked off in June, has been a resounding success, attracting over 600 participants and members participating in various engaging programs.
The event featured a wide range of activities catering to different community segments. From School clinics that saw 342 enthusiastic participants to the WA Volleyball State League home round that drew in 150 spectators, the event truly encompassed the spirit of volleyball. Additionally, the Coaching Forum, Community clinics, Coaching and Referee Accreditation courses, and School holiday clinics provided valuable opportunities for learning and skill development, with a total of 137 participants benefitting from these initiatives.
A key factor in the success of the Great Southern Volley Mania was the collaborative effort of various partners. Volleyball WA extends its gratitude to Reds Volleyball Club, UWA Volleyball Club, Albany Volleyball Association, and Denmark Volleyball Club for their invaluable contributions towards making the event a grand success. Their support and involvement played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the month-long volleyball extravaganza.
Furthermore, Volleyball WA recognises the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries for their support through the Regional Servicing Grant for the Great Southern Region. This funding played a vital role in enabling the delivery of development activities that promoted the sport of volleyball and facilitated its growth within the community.
As the Great Southern Volley Mania concludes on a high note, the future looks promising for this annual event. With the overwhelming participation and positive feedback received this year, there is a strong indication of the event becoming a regular fixture on the volleyball calendar. The success of this year’s event sets a solid foundation for future editions, ensuring that the Great Southern Volley Mania continues to grow and thrive, bringing the joy of volleyball to an even wider audience in the years to come.
