Captains Share Their Thoughts

As the finals approach, each team’s captain shared a few words ahead of the big day:

  • Jackie Tamburri, Balcatta Volleyball Club
“We’re incredibly grateful to be back in the grand final this year. It’s been a challenging season with injuries, which makes me even prouder of how every player—including our development squad—has stepped up at crucial moments to help us earn this opportunity. We’ve been fortunate to maintain a strong core group over the past three seasons, and our ability to welcome new teammates while continuing to grow the Cats’ culture and vision has been key to our sustained success. Each season has brought its own unique challenges, and while the four-peat is our ultimate goal, our focus is firmly on the present. This week’s preparations will be about blocking out the noise, staying grounded, and getting ourselves physically and mentally ready to leave everything on the court. Southern Cross is a strong side, and we’re ready for what may be our toughest test yet.”
  • Caitlin Waterfall, Southern Cross Volleyball Club
“ We’ve been putting in the work all season to improve as a team unit. We’ve created a strong culture around hard work, focus, and determination which we will continue to build on. We are excited to bring this energy into the game and leave it all out there.”
  • Dylan Wood, Chequers Volleyball Club
“Everyone is super excited after a great result on the weekend and with the opportunity to play in a grand final. We are expecting a difficult game as UWA have been the best team all season, having won our last 3 clashes. So, we will need to take some risks and make a few changes to see if we can flip the script and win the most important one.”
  • Matthew Pallot, UWA Volleyball Club
“UWA Men have had two weeks of solid training in the lead up to Saturday’s final. We’ve been continuing to work on our style of play and we’re feeling well-prepared for a strong performance in the match. We look forward to seeing all our supporters at the match!”
