Inclusion in Action: Pride Cup 2025 Doubles the Celebration

November is Pride Month in Western Australia, and to celebrate the inclusivity of our sport, Volleyball WA once again partnered with the Perth Scorpions Volleyball Club to deliver the 2025 VWA Pride Cup on 15 November at the Gold Netball Centre. This year’s mixed competition saw significant growth, expanding to 18 teams and more than 140 participants, double the numbers from 2024.

“We’re thrilled to join forces once more with the Perth Scorpions Volleyball Club for this annual celebration. Their leadership continues to amplify diversity and drive LGBTQIA+ inclusion in our sport,” said Karen Wickham, Participation Manager at Volleyball WA.

Sport has the power to create safe, supportive, and welcoming environments where everyone can belong. Embracing LGBTQIA+ inclusion in volleyball means celebrating diversity, challenging discrimination, and ensuring that all people have equal opportunities to participate, compete, and thrive.

Continuing the Pride Month celebrations, the Perth Scorpions Volleyball Club will host a stall at Pride Club Day on Saturday, 22 November (11am–5pm) at Supreme Court Gardens (Stall 5G) to showcase and promote volleyball across the WA community. The Club has also invited members of the volleyball community to march with them in this year’s WA Pride Parade on Saturday 29th November form 8pm. Those interested can register their participation here, with further details to be provided by the Club.
