The Road to Birmingham – Paul Burnett

There is nothing more we love doing than celebrating the achievements of our local players, here we take an opportunity to congratulate Paul Burnett, who just received the news of his selection for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham, UK in July and follow his journey.

Paul was selected to the team based on his current world ranking, an impressive 14th, and his equally impressive recent international results which have included first at the 2021 Asian Championships in Thailand in November last year, fifth at the Tlaxcala, Mexico & Doha Challenger events and second at the recent Kusadasi, Turkey Challenger event.

He is currently on a five-week tour of Europe, competing in several events and finishing up in Rome for the World Championships in June.

Following this, he will return to Australia for two weeks to train before returning to Europe for three events in Switzerland, Morocco and Portugal before the Commonwealth Games in July.

He will be partnered with seasoned Australian Beach Volleyball representative Chris McHugh, and we will be following the pair closely throughout the Games and wish them every success.

Make sure to follow all the action via the Volleyball Australia Facebook page.
