After a successful launch of Program 1 of the VWA Academy earlier this year, we are excited to share details of upcoming Academy opportunities during the School Holidays and Term 3.
Beach Volleyball – VWA Academy School Holiday Program
The VWA Academy will be delivering a targeted beach volleyball program during the July School Holidays. The four-session program held at the VWA Beach Courts in West Perth will focus on introducing indoor athletes to beach volleyball, as well as developing beach volleyball skills for athletes familiar to beach volleyball prior to the Youth Beach State Team Program which will commence later this year. Registrations are still open and spots are limited so get in quick!
Indoor Volleyball – VWA Academy Program 2
VWA Academy Program 2 will take place on Saturdays from 25 July – 12 September at Kingsway Indoor Stadium, with a focus on indoor volleyball development for athletes 14-19 years old. Boy squads will train from 8:15am to 10:30am, and Girl squads from 10:30am to 12:45pm.
Program 2 will offer two squads per gender: a Development Squad and a Performance Squad, each capped at 16 athletes. Athletes will be grouped by skill level, progression, projected development, and commitment, not by age. There will be one trial day held on Saturday 18 July at Kingsway Indoor Stadium to select and allocate athletes into a squad. Athletes selected to an AYVC Youth State Team will be exempt from trials due to a program scheduling clash, but will still need to register their interest through the link.
Program 2 will include:
8 x indoor volleyball sessions including a sport psychology session component
Individual athlete management, performance planning and goal setting with the VWA Performance Pathways Coach
Performance Squad only – 2 x per week strength and conditioning session requirement with Diamond High Performance
