Dear players, supporters, members, clubs and our broader volleyball community,
Volleyball WA has continued to monitor COVID-19 (Coronavirus) very closely.
The Federal Government has today, the 18th of March, released important information about COVID-19 and has increased measures to reduce the risk of transmission.
Based on the Prime Minister’s statements today and newly developed Sport Australia guidelines, Volleyball WA has decided to postpone, cancel or provide alternative options for volleyball competitions, events and activities up until the 1st of May. Please click the link below to find out more information.
Volleyball WA has developed the following document that highlights the current status of upcoming competitions, events and activities (CLICK HERE).
Although the risk assessment shows that our sport and activities are low risk within the current guidelines, we recognise the volatility of the situation and, just as importantly, the level of community concern. Therefore, we will continue to calmly implement our Risk Management plan to ensure the sport is in line with government-issued advice and prioritise the health of participants and stakeholders.
Our immediate focus is to support and guide our clubs, affiliates and stakeholders through this unprecedented and challenging period. This includes developing strategies and resources to maintain our players and supporters connection to volleyball.
Volleyball WA wants to reassure the community that social isolation should not mean a breakdown of social connectedness. We are asking the community to take a few minutes to check in on your mental health and check in with your teammates. Also, during this time, please remember to stay active and endeavour to find 30 minutes of exercise every day.
It is clear that the situation regarding COVID-19 is evolving and changing rapidly. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and will issue further updates as and when authoritative advice is received.
This is an unprecedented situation for all of us, so please continue to be kind to each other. Look after yourself and your loved ones and don’t forget to check in on your teammates. Join us on social media and our website to stay up to date as events in this space evolve.
If you need more information or have a question, please don’t hesitate to contact the Volleyball WA offices on 08 9228 8522 or via email [email protected].
