In support of National Road Safety Week, Volleyball WA is actively promoting the vital message of road safety. The initiative encourages everyone to pledge: “Drive So Others Survive!”
The statistics are alarming. Each year, approximately 1,200 people lose their lives, and over 40,000 suffer serious injuries on Australian roads. Tragically, traffic injuries are the leading cause of death among Australian children under 15 and the second leading cause for those aged 15 to 24. These numbers continue to rise, yet they are preventable. The key lies in conscientious driving and adhering to safety measures.
National Road Safety Week is an annual campaign spearheaded by the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group. It collaborates with road safety organisations and the government to shed light on the devastating effects of road trauma and explore effective strategies for reducing it.
Through initiatives like Volleyball WA’s involvement, the week aims to foster a culture of safety and responsibility on the roads. By raising awareness and urging individuals to commit to safer driving practices, it is possible to decrease the number of casualties and make Australian roads safer for everyone.
