What a great long weekend it was! We were delighted that several of our WAVL Clubs hosted the South Australian team, Austral Volleyball Club, in Western Australia for a series of volleyball practice matches and training sessions.

Austral competed in three matches against Chequers Volleyball Club, Balcatta Volleyball Club, and Reds Volleyball Club. Austral emerged victorious, winning all three matches and playing a total of 15 sets. Our Western Australian teams are eager to continue their pre-season efforts, building upon the valuable lessons learned during these competitive practice matches.

Chequers Head Coach Gavin Lewis remarked, “It was a great opportunity to face a new, high-quality team during the pre-season. The experience provided valuable competition and insight.”

In addition to the matches, Austral had the chance to train with the Rossmoyne team, which is preparing for their trip to Japan next week. This collaboration allowed both teams to exchange knowledge, refine their skills, and prepare for their upcoming challenges.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Austral for making the journey to Western Australia, and we are genuinely excited about the future. We would love for clubs to welcome them back next year for even more volleyball action!
