Perth Steel Women, Pauline Manser Shine as WA Sport Awards Finalists

Volleyball Western Australia is proud to announce that the Perth Steel Women and their Head Coach, Pauline Manser, have been named finalists for Team of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively at the 2025 WA Sport Awards. The finalists were announced by SportWest on Thursday, 18 December 2025.

The Perth Steel Women enjoyed a historic campaign in the Australian Volleyball Super League, where they were crowned National Champions, finishing the season undefeated. The team was led by Coach of the Year nominee Pauline Manser, whose leadership has guided the program to the Super League Finals for three consecutive seasons, securing two gold medals during that period.

This nomination recognises not only podium success, but also the collective effort of the athletes, coaches, managers, clubs, families, supporters, volunteers and sponosors whose dedication contributed to this outstanding achievement.

Volleyball WA congratulates the other finalists in the Team of the Year category Judo WA State Team and Perth Thundersticks Women (Hockey) as well as the other RSM Australia Coach of the Year Finalists Ian Mills (Swimming) and Ritchie Smith (Golf).

In addition to the two finalist, Volleyball had nominations across multiple award categories in 2025.

Other nominations included:

  • Organisation of the Year: Volleyball WA
  • Sport Initiative of the Year: Adaptive Volley
  • Community Club of the Year:
    • Southern Cross Volleyball Club
    • Perth Scorpions
  • Official of the Year: Will Dundas & Derek Scales
  • WA Sport Star: Luke Perry & Elizabeth Alchin

While not all nominations progressed to finalist status, Volleyball WA views each submission as an important reflection of  continued growth of the sport in Western Australia.

The 2025 WA Sport Awards will take place on Thursday, 26 February 2026. Volleyball WA extends its congratulations to all finalists and nominees across every category. We look forward to proudly representing volleyball at the Awards night and celebrating an exceptional year for our sport.
