Perth Steel Women Claim AVSL Title as Men Fall Short Against Pirates

Brisbane – November 2025

Volleyball WA congratulates Perth Steel Women on claiming the 2025 Mahindra Australian Volleyball Super League (AVSL) Championship, capping off a season of dominance with a thrilling five-set victory over Adelaide Storm.
The women’s squad, coached by Pauline Manser and Laurel Wentworth, showcased resilience and composure under pressure. After leading the ladder from start to finish, they held their nerve in the deciding set to secure the title, reinforcing their reputation as one of the league’s most formidable teams. Setter, Caitlin WAterfall took home the game MVP Awards for her performance in the final.

In the men’s final, Perth Steel faced defending champions Queensland Pirates in a competitive four-set contest. Despite flashes of brilliance and a strong semi-final win over Melbourne Vipers, Steel couldn’t overcome the Pirates’ momentum in the closing stages. While the result was disappointing, the performance highlighted the men’s growth and competitiveness at the national level, setting a strong foundation for future success.
